Qobuz pronunciation2/1/2024 ![]() Qobuz has a terrible quality control, and many of the so-called "masters" that are on the service are actually poor quality digital captures published by the french national library (BNF), from when it had its entire vinyl library digitized by a Belgian company about 5 or 6 years ago. ![]() Pay for Tidal or pay for Qobuz and a second, more comprehensive streaming service on top? We know which we'd choose.Ī few comments regarding Qobuz from a hifi perspective: That's a problem, regardless of this or any future drop in price. By not quite doing that, Qobuz prevents itself from being your only music-streaming source, and you will need Spotify or Apple Music to plug the gaps. The core of music streaming's appeal is that it puts all music at your fingertips. As much as we are fans of high-quality sound, not having an album at all is worse than not having it in hi-res. Tidal sounds better than Qobuz and, while Qobuz has more hi-res tracks, its rivals boast bigger overall music libraries. Qobuz has always been about 'hi-fi' streaming, and here it is the king of content, conquering its rivals with the comparative comprehensiveness of its catalogue.īut that doesn't tell the whole story. Verdictįor anyone willing to spend no more than £10 per month on 320kbps music streaming, there's never been a compelling reason to choose Qobuz over the likes of Spotify or Apple Music, so the loss of that subscription tier isn't a major blow. And the fact that there are (comparatively) so many of them is to be strongly applauded. With Gregory Porter’s reading of L-O-V-E, the Tidal stream shows a greater handling of the track’s intended timing and dynamic flurries, organising it into more distinct layers without compromising its delivery as a cohesive whole.īut while Qobuz’s hi-res streams may not be the most timely or driven, they still offer a marked step up from the CD-quality tracks. The thumping presence beneath the jangly synths plays a bigger part in driving the instrumental forward, and there’s a harder kick to the electric guitar melody to carry it through the vocal. We play the Qobuz (24-bit/96kHz) and Tidal Master (sampling and bitrate unknown) streams of Don Broco’s Technology, and the latter is more convincing, communicating the rhythmic structure of the opening drum pattern better. Despite rebranding its 'Home' tab as 'Discover', Qobuz simply isn't as good as its rivals at introducing you to new music – and that's without taking into consideration that it doesn't have as much new music in its library. Other headers are gateways to your playlists and favourite music, as well as purchased music and offline content.ĭisappointingly, while most services have now heavily moved to a discovery model that uses algorithms to recommend new music, Qobuz has barely dipped its toe in such personalisation. ‘Panoramas’ (features on particular artists and genres) and ‘The Taste of Qobuz’ (including Qobuzisimme: music that has received an award from Qobuz’s magazine team) also feature on the home page. Rather than having the left-hand side menu widely adopted by its rivals, Qobuz uses a top-bar menu, beneath which is a banner of featured content and several sections such as ‘new releases’ and ‘Qobuz playlists’. The interface is a joy to navigate across the PC and mobile platforms, and an aesthetic leap above its rivals that nails the balance between space and content density. Our collective taste, though far-reaching, is by no means the rule, but it paints a picture. In fact, only once since January 2019 – 31 playlists ago – have all our 20 picks been available on Qobuz, with numbers ranging from a high of 19 in March to only 13 last April. New music seems a particular issue, but established records are missing, too: we put together a playlist of test tracks each month and Qobuz is always the service with the most gaps. While it's inconvenient to discover that the latest album or track by your favourite artist isn't available in hi-res on your chosen streaming service, it's downright annoying if it isn't available at all. On the flip side, however, we often find albums on Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer that aren't available on Qobuz at all – which we would argue is a far bigger issue. Numbers rarely tell the whole story, but we regularly find hi-res albums on Qobuz that are available in only CD-quality on Tidal. Recent figures put the total number of hi-res tracks at over 2m, while Tidal claims 'only' over 1m. Qobuz's comparatively high price has always been partly justified by its exhaustive library of hi-res music (FLAC 24-bit up to 192kHz).

Tumour lysis syndrome (TLS) is caused by the disintegration of malignant cells, usually following the instigation of chemotherapy, although it may already be established at the time of initial presentation in a minority of cases. Cortico-cortical fibers connecting face-M1 with the lower premotor areas including Broca's area may also be important for articulatory control. The cases suggest the existence of a localized brain region specialized for articulation near face-M1. Overlay of magnetic resonance images revealed a localized cortical region near face-M1, which displayed high intensity on diffusion weighted images, while the main portion of the corticobulbar fibers arising from the lower third of the motor cortex was preserved. ![]() The speech disturbance was limited to verbal output, without aphasia or orofacial apraxia. When distinctive brain lesions detected by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) accompany CIS, the person is considered at a high risk for MS. As the name implies, CIS is an isolated condition but is often considered a precursor to multiple sclerosis (MS). Most commonly, corticobasal degeneration is characterized by a buildup of tau in brain cells, which may lead to their deterioration and the symptoms of corticobasal degeneration. The optic nerve is a frequent site affected by this neurologic event. Corticobasal degeneration (corticobasal syndrome) can be caused by several underlying pathologies. Clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) describes a single, first-occurrence attack caused by inflammation/demyelination in 1 or more locations in the central nervous system.

Growbot review2/1/2024 ![]() While the glistening, shimmering world of Growbot looks sublime, it doesn’t often do enough to point you in the right direction. Right-clicking things with your own mouse is also supposed to guide you when you're stuck, but in practise I didn't find either of these helpful. One keepable you obtain, for example, is Brainipilia, a rodent-like creature living rent free inside Nara’s head that's meant to provide context or hints. It's not particularly adept at telling you how to progress if you get stuck, for example, and I often couldn't find the one tiny thing that was eluding me. ![]() It sounds simple enough, but Growbot often veers into frustration. The shimmering world of Growbot looks sublime, but it doesn’t often point you in the right direction. Thankfully, you’ll only need to backtrack through areas once for a story-related event. They'll all divided into a few sections, and more often than not you’ll encounter characters and puzzles near their respective entrances that require something found from deeper within, such as keepables that alter the world and are useful throughout your journey, or consumables to combine or attach to other things so you can progress. These range from scenic locations like the garden to more industrial ones like the ship’s engine room. You’ll be exploring Growbot’s spaceship setting using a separated inventory – ‘keepables’ on the left, ‘consumables’ on the right – and a cool, coloured cursor to traverse through its various chambers. It's sometimes more upbeat for character themes, but almost always evoking an emotional response. Truly fit for a dark fantasy, the music is often eerie and ethereal. Accompanying this is an effective score composed by Jessica Fichot. The style is elegant, and enhanced by adorable animations, like Nara’s waddle along the screen as she moves. A vine here, a crystal there, a cascading waterfall elsewhere. The world is rooted in a biopunk aesthetic, wonderfully brought to life with a contrasting blend of vibrancy and gloom. The first thing you’ll notice about Growbot is its striking hand-drawn artwork. The space station where Nara is completing her training is attacked by Crissy, the very first growbot who disappeared years ago and has now returned to wreak crystal-themed havok. A classic, isn’t it? Add in some flowers, music and puzzles, and you get Growbot - a 2D point and click puzzler where you play as Nara, a novice growbot on a journey to save her world. Publisher: Application Systems Heidelberg. It's also very light on story despite being heavy on world-building. Growbot looks divine, but it's often too finicky for its own good.

Sea of roses lyrics1/31/2024 ![]() ![]() There is also a French version of the song under the title of "Dansons la Rose". And she sees the road by the poplars, Where they met in the bygone years, For the first little song of the roses Is the last little song she hears: Roses are shining in Picardy, in the hush of the silver dew, Roses are flowering in Picardy, but there's never a rose like you! And the roses will die with the summertime, and our roads may be far apart, But there's one rose that dies not in Picardy! 'tis the rose that I keep in my heart!Īnd the years fly on for ever, Till the shadows veil their skies, But he loves to hold her little hands, And look in her sea-blue eyes. And a song stirs in the silence, As the wind in the boughs above, She listens and starts and trembles, 'Tis the first little song of love: She is watching by the poplars, Colinette with the sea-blue eyes, She is watching and longing and waiting Where the long white roadway lies. The following lyric is taken from the sheet music published in 1916: Following the war, the singing of the song helped soldiers who were suffering from shell shock to regain their powers of speech. During the First World War, the song sold at a rate of 50,000 copies of the sheet music per month, earning Haydn Wood approximately £10,000 in total (£518,252 in 2023 adjusted for inflation). The song quickly became popular throughout Britain, with British soldiers singing it when they enlisted for the Front in France and Flanders. This area contained the Somme battlefields – the scene of some of the fiercest fighting during the First World War. Picardy was a historical province of France which stretched from north of Noyon to Calais via the whole of the Somme department and the north of the Aisne department. Weatherly travelled in France visiting the Rhone valley and Chamonix. The exact story that lies behind the words of the song is unclear, but in his 1926 memoirs, Weatherly suggested that it concerned a love affair of one of his close friends. He jumped off the bus and wrote down the refrain on an old envelope while standing under a street lamp. Wood related that, as he was going home one night on the top of a London bus, the melody came to him. The composer Haydn Wood wrote the music for over 200 ballads, of which "Roses of Picardy" became his most popular. Her singing of his compositions resulted in his writing two of the most popular hits of the 20th-century " Danny Boy" (1910) and "Roses of Picardy". The lyricist Fred Weatherly had become impressed with beauty of the voice of the soprano Elsie Griffin, who later became a leading artiste with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Published in London in 1916 by Chappell & Co, it was one of the most famous songs of the First World War and has been recorded frequently up to the present day. " Roses of Picardy" is a popular British song with lyrics by Frederick Weatherly and music by Haydn Wood.

Dashlane review1/31/2024 You can also use Google’s new AI chatbot instead of Google Search and here’s everything you need to know about how to use Google Bard. Every aspect of Dashlane is impressive it excels at basic password management, has a very intuitive interface, provides more advanced bonus security tools than most competitors, and offers responsive customer support. Looking for more things you can do with Google? This is how to do a reverse image search using Google or you may want to find out how to use Google Lens on iPhone and iPad to search with your camera. Dashlane is one of the best password managers on the market today. Keep in mind though, you can still use your Google password and two-step verification to sign into your Google account even if you have passkeys enabled. You can now use a passkey to easily sign into your Google account instead of having to enter your password each time. When a prompt appears asking if you want to use your passkey to sign in, tap Allow.Īnd there you have it. Open your camera app and scan the QR code. If you can afford to purchase the app, then have it, but if not and you want to stick with the free version, we suggest you look for alternatives that offer you more than the accessible version of Dashlane gives. If the notification doesn’t arrive, you can still use your passkey to sign in by scanning a QR code. You can check out the prices below if you want to. Since its features aren't what others provide, purchasing it could be an ache in your pocket because its price isn't that low. Compared to other competitors, this app is set apart as an app that is focused on the primary purpose and to the app that is like a gem that you wouldn't quickly get without paying. Overall, Dashlane Password Manager on Mac, Windows, Linux, mobile devices, and the web is worth using and having. Also, unlike what its alternative supports, the app only offers a single account recovery option, so if you forget the master password, you will have definite trouble opening the vault again. Dashlane allows users to store unlimited passwords for free and offers premium subscription plans with no password storage limitations as well. Aiseesoft iPhone Password Manager free version is much better than this app's free version. Unlike other applications you can freely download, Dashlane basic edition doesn't offer all the mentioned features. So, if you want assurance, have this on your device. In addition to that, syncing data, even if you are using a different system, is easier with this app. It is more than just an account protector since these features aren't generally supported on its alternatives like LastPass.

Pool slides1/31/2024 “We will often try to come up with creative ways of screening, like masonry or a stone wall,” he says of the customization process. Holley says how well your slide blends in (or doesn’t) with your poolside surroundings is a factor in whether you should consider custom or prefabricated. In some cases, your town or local homeowners association may have stipulations on slide height, so check with them or government safety regulations before purchasing. In-ground pool slides come in three categories: elephant leg (between 9 and 14 feet), which is generally the tallest type, with a steep drop near the top, making it more suitable for deeper pools molded slide leg (8 feet high), which starts out straight and has a medium curve near the drop and straight leg (between 8 and 12 feet), which is straight at the top and has a very slight curve at the bottom. When it comes to the design of an in-ground pool slide, consider materials, durability, height, safety features, slide type, and how much poolside area it can safely take up. Our Shopping Checklist Design and Materials We also zeroed in on the versatility of the materials-could they withstand saltwater pools or be easily wiped down with common household cleaners? The size was also an essential factor, because the larger, more extravagant slides shouldn’t have all the fun, right? As for the design, we searched for both open and enclosed, and whether it could be moved or was more of a permanent fixture. Along with Holley’s suggestions and expertise, we scoured the available offerings for the sturdiest of slides, keeping in mind how well their designs cater to the safety of small children (re: enclosed ladders and easy-to-grip stair handles). Since custom in-ground pool slides tend to require a bigger budget, we focused our search on reasonably priced, semi-custom options that can be easily installed at home without professional help. The enclosed plumbing design conceals the water connections, making for a polished pool slide setup. You can choose from a couple of slide chute widths in the event that you prefer a little more space on your way down the flume, which will be covered with water at 25 GPM. Gliding down a poolside water slide sounds like our kind of fun, but we also love that this particular model comes with optional LED lighting. Why we chose it: A sleek poolside pick that comes with a few stylish accessories. A simple deck-mounted installation (that anchors the main section with steel studs) simplifies the process of assembling the slide just make sure you have a couple of extra hands to give you an assist. The slide is available in gray granite and sandstone, two natural tones that keep it from leaning toward water-park vibes. Use the pool’s return line or even a garden hose to run water down the slide (with a 25 gallons-per-minute capacity at that). The flume measures more than 14 feet long, so there’s plenty of runway for a big splash, but the curved silhouette smartly takes up less deck or patio space. Molded-in handrails make for easy, slip-free gripping, and an enclosed, eight-step ladder makes climbing less like you’re scaling a slippery slope and more like a wobble-free casual walk-up. Compatible with in-ground pools only, the slide’s sturdy construction (including a closed-in ladder to help with fall prevention) makes it safe for everyone, regardless of daredevil status. Holley likes this brand’s reputation for its quality and reasonable price points. Why we chose it: A space-conscious slide that lets you choose the direction of its curve.
